The Citrus Sprayers
The citrus sprayers by Lekue that we bought at Sur La Table work great! The set comes with two different sized sprayers, one for large citrus fruits such as an orange or lemon, and a smaller one for limes or tangerines. The set also includes a ring to prevent juice from escaping around the edges of the fruit and a stand so that you can store the fruit standing up in your refrigerator.
We tried both sized sprayers with a ripe lemon and lime and they worked well. Before inserting the sprayer we gently rolled the fruit on the counter, applying light pressure to get the juices flowing.
We sprayed popcorn with lime juice and then sprinkled on ground nutritional yeast.
This helped the yeast flakes to adhere to the popcorn kernels without making them soggy.
We also used the sprayers to apply a mist of lemon and lime juice to tossed salads. We are always looking for ways to add flavor to foods without adding oil. These sprayers make it easy to evenly apply a mist of citrus juice. We like to add lime juice to watermelon and cantaloupe chunks. Cucumber spears taste fresh and delicious with a mist of tangy lemon juice! Is your mouth watering yet?
