The Campbell Plan
The Campbell Plan by Thomas Campbell, MD is a guide about how to embrace a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle. We bought our copy last week at Barnes and Noble, but you can also purchase it through Amazon (see link below). This book plays an important role as a follow up to The China Study by Thomas Campbell, MD and his father, T. Colin Campbell, PhD. It answers questions regarding wheat, soy, GMOs, fish, and supplements. It also provides tips about how to read labels, stock your pantry, and eat at restaurants. What we appreciate most about this book is its reliable, research-based evidence. The notes at the end of the book may not appear flashy or provide entertaining reading, but we value them so much we had to include a picture:
These notes show that Dr. Campbell backs up his statements with scientific research, and if we want more information we can follow through by investigating the sources listed in his notes.
The back of the book also presents recipes from the Campbells and other top cooks in the field such as Ann and Jane Esselstyn, Lindsay Nixon (The Happy Herbivore), and Chef Del Sourfe. We prepared several delicious recipes, including Chocolate No-Bake Cookies by Karen Campbell. These chocolatey treats are rich in fiber, yummy, and easy to make.
The Campbell Plan is a helpful, clear book to help people adopt and maintain a whole-food, plant-based diet. We highly recommend it! Let us know what you find most helpful about this book and which recipes you enjoy.
